Pink is a visual essay on womanhood. The social axis or nature/nurture aspects (top and bottom corners) shows a pregnant woman kneeling in the center of a flower where the seeds of future generations develop. Opposite, a woman stands behind another figure as guide, support, and mentor. The personal axis features a peasant girl who represents the early self defined by society, while the remaining corner symbolizes the flowering of the individual. The entire image is based on and created from a single almond blossom. In the initial image I noticed the form of a red-haired female figure. From that impression came the idea for this composition.
