Fragmentation Symphony
Images in this anti-war/anti-conflict series reflect my feeling of a world so fragmented (politically, ethnically, religiously, and many other ways) that it continually moves toward chaos and conflict in its affairs. And fragmentation not only occurs on an international level but also at home on a personal level. I created the fragmented, broken look by misusing one of the Photoshop tools. Fragmentation Symphony is titled after that effect and after Kandinsky's idea that art should have the emotional impact of grand music and that colors are the artist's equivalent of notes. So in this "symphony," my notes are hard yellows and flaming reds and oranges combined with black. The series basically mourns the loss through conflict--personal, local, or multinational--of the world's peace of mind and security in life.
